Goals and Applications of Computer networks BIT 6th Semester IASE
COmputer Network Goals:-
Uses of Networks
Simultaneous Access
Commonly used data and resources can be kept on a central location, called Network Server, from where users can simultaneously access.
If data is stored centrally, it is called a file server
Programs also can be centrally located in the server, which can be accessed by users on the network- Client server model
Applications also can be centrally located on server ( Application Server)or in clients in distributed mode of processing.
Shared Peripheral devices-
Peer-to-peer networks definition advantages disadvantages with client server system
"A type of network in which each workstation has equivalent capabilities and responsibilities. This differs from client/server architectures, in which some computers are dedicated to serving the others."
Advantages of Open Source Concept
“Programmer writes their code in a manner which is friendly for other programmers to modify and redistribute and use publicly”.
Advantages & disadvantages of DDA Line Drawing algorithms
Advantages & disadvantages of DDA:-
- Faster than the direct use of the line equation and it does not do any floating point multiplication.
- Floating point Addition is still needed.
- Precision loss because of rounding off.
- Pixels drift farther apart if line is relatively larger.
Advantages of Object Oriented Programming
Some of the elements of OOP are:-
Inheritance:-
Inheritance is the process of deriving new classes from an existing base class. Here the derived classes not only inherits the capabilities of the base class but add refinement of its own.
Amplitude modulation (AM)
Amplitude modulation (AM) is a technique used in electronic communication, most commonly for transmitting information via a radio carrier wave. AM works by varying the strength of the transmitted signal in relation to the information being sent. For example, changes in the signal strength can be used to reflect the sounds to be reproduced by a speaker, or to specify the light intensity of television pixels.
Advantages of using a DBMS
DBMS offers several advantages over file processing. The principal advantages of a DBMS are the followings:
1. Controlling Redundancy
2. Restricting Unauthorized Access
3. Providing Persistent Storage for Program Objects and Data Structures
4. Multiple User Interfaces
Advantages of using flowcharts
The advantages of flowcharts are as follow:-
Structured programming
A technique for organizing and coding computer programs in which a hierarchy of modules is used, each having a single entry and a single exit point, and in which control is passed downward through the structure without unconditional branches to higher levels of the structure. Three types of control flow are used: sequential, test, and iteration.
A structured program is one consisting entirely of three types of logic structures:
